so,

instead of a watch (due to a lack of availability), my amex giftcard turned into 12 bottles of champagne and 1 1/2 gallons of tangerine juice. crazy, huh? that, along with 2 pounds of spinach, 1 1/2 pounds of mozzarella, 2 loaves of bread, and 3 dozen eggs. we've got a dozen rsvp'd, so

been kindof addicted to this site, thedailyplate.com, due to a [personally] very noticed 7 pound weight gain. it has BRANDS of food, so i don't have to manually enter in all the things i eat to keep track...and if the food's not there, i can always enter it in for future use. and exercize, as well: it calculates how much someone of my build is burning doing specific exercises. it's pretty much awesome.

and then, my stomach has been all sorts of upset for the past 3 days. ugh. i hope this goes away soon...

Friday

seven days of lamb

12.25 - lamb roast, cooked in: garlic, basil, red wine
12.26 - leftovers of the above
12.27 - lamb pie, shepherd style: 1 pie crust, lamb gravy (roast drippings, flour, milk), lamb chunks, chopped carrots, green beans, potato wedges (as crust)
12.28 - lamb barley soup: lamb bone boiled several hours in a mix of veggie broth/beef broth/water, chopped carrots and celery, baby pearl onions (mixed colors), barley, garlic, basil

left to eat after tonight:
1/2 lamb pie (2 meals)
3 sandwiches' worth of lamb roast (3 meals)
2 quarts of lamb barley soup (4 meals)

Wednesday

semi-holidays

you know, the days in between actual holidays where no one goes to work?

san francisco is a ghost town, as is my office. me, i'm just groggy from all the r&r of the past four days, and having a bit of a withdrawal from my kitty, the bf, and getting to stay home.

dinner last night was amazing: green beans and almonds, lamb in a garlic-basil marinade, white potatoes and onions baked in olive oil and lemon juice, and a dark walnut bread with oil & vinegar...and tomorrow, i'm going to turn the lamb juices into lamb & barley soup, like i did last year. maybe add carrots and celery to the ingredients list. in any case, i have a lot of amazing leftovers to look forward to.

on another note...i have a workout consultation tonight, at 7 (i guess i didn't realize how awkward of a time 7 was going to be), as i am determined to drop the winter hibernation weight i picked up with all the candies and goodies that were so thoughtfully sent to my office.

fussy fuzzies

  • went to zazie for breakfast.
their food is so good, but i get tired of paying the "cole valley surcharge" sometimes. we got out of there with a $42 bill, and i always feel like i should've just eaten a steak or something.

  • we got guinness new food, which he will not eat.
instead, he cries until i give him a combo of kitty treats and cat nip. at this moment, he is playing with a twisty tie and coo-mewing at me.

i've had a thing for wrap-watches for a while, and i'm done with relying on electronics (cell phones, ipods) for time telling.

  • watched last tango in paris last night on our wall.
i love the soundrack; i was kindof disappointed at the ending. french movies are so bizarre...as is seeing marlon brando pre-obesity.

sometimes, music or art will make tears well up in my eyes; but not because it's so beautiful, because i'm disappointed that i didn't think of it. it's an odd sort of envy, i know.

i slept alone last night. i'll do it again tomorrow and the next day. i realized, it's not any easier to get out of bed when you wake up alone. or any easier to remember your phone. though i did remember to brush my teeth and pack a lunch. priorities...
